Paradigm Shift Hunter Education Class Outline

The class lasts 8 hours. It consists of two nights of four class hours each night.
The recommended minimum age for a paradigm shift class is 16 years.
This class is very hard to pass. A higher percentage of students will fail than those taking the traditional class. Most of the knowledge and skills that students will be tested on will be self-taught by reading, studying and learning class materials prior to attending the first night of class.

On the class days arrive at the RF&G club by 5:00 PM with completed student manual. You will turn in manual for review. If all questions have been answered, you can begin the 75 question written test. You have until 6:30 PM to complete the test. If you fail the test, you are required to leave the class. If you pass the test, you stay for the live fire and field course instruction.

Several actions and types of firearms will be shot. The instructors will provide the firearms and the ammunition. Students should bring ear protection and eye protection. Students are graded on safety and their general working knowledge of firearm safety skills.

The field course is a simulated hunt that includes real firearms, cars, roads, 3-D targets, streams, other people, fences and gates. Students are graded on how safely, ethically and legally they handle each of the situations that they encounter. Instructors will provide all needed supplies for field course. Students can bring their own blaze orange vest or jacket to wear during field course.

To sign up:

1. Complete the class roster.
2. Complete registration form in pencil, sign in ink.
3. Read and sign your class contract and leave in signup book. You can download a copy of the contract to review.
4. Pay the $20.00 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.
5. You will now receive your classroom study materials - complete and bring with you the first night of class.
6. Class costs are donation only.
7. Deposit will be returned after you complete the course.
8. Unclaimed deposits are used to offset class room expences.

Class size is limited to 25 students per class. If you sign up and then cannot attend the class please notify the club as soon as possible. This will allow us to fill your spot. You can then schedule another class.

To pass you must do the following:

1. Bring your completed student manual to class.
2. Pass the written test within the given time limit.
3. Pass the live fire skills test.
4. Pass the field course skills test.

Notes:

• Read paradigm shift contract very carefully.
• It is very easy to fail this class.
• Violation of contract will result in failure of class.
• The class is designed for older students with a moderate amount of firearm experience. Students with no firearm experience should not take this class.
